The Roomba maps out the room so that it knows when it has cleaned everywhere. It returns to its homebase when it has finished and plays a little tune - self congratulation?.

Other advantages - doesn't eat or leave the toilet seat up

I watched some of the videos, MargaretR. I think I'd rather sit and watch one of those than watch some of the TV these days.
The dust box doesn't look very big.Does it fill up quickly?

The manual recommends emptying after every use.

At the moment I am clearing a backlog of dust and fluff accumulated after several weeks of neglect, and have found the dust box very full after use. It is easier to empty than my Dyson.

When I programme it to clean daily during my PM nap I imagine that it will not need emptying every time.

There is a larger dust box available as an optional extra, which pet owners might need.

What I did notice was a quite large amount of very fine powder type dust trapped by the Hepa filters.- that IS good.

No, lowering the lid doesn't take as much effort as lifting it as you have gravity to assist you.

Yes it's a bit disconcerting going to sit on the loo and suddenly finding yourself a few inches lower than you thought you were going to be. Actually the opposite once happened to me - I sat on the loo without noticing the lid was down and before I realised it the floor was very wet... it was on a train - I rushed out of the loo and beat a hasty retreat to the other end of the train!

I look on men leaving the lid/seat up in the same way as we were talking about snoring partners the other day - at least you know they're still there to carry on with their bad habits.

No I really don't care. I am at that age when, cold pot meeting hot bot, is quite refreshing and that only happens in the night when I navigate to the loo with eyes closed and no light on(don't want to wake himself from his beauty sleep).
What I really don't like is following him to the lav and finding the pedestal mat wet........he needs to aim a bit straighter...either that, or sit down to siphon the python.
I always have at least one pedestal mat in the wash.

I enjoy the company of my cleaner twice a week, I get a bit of friendly chat to break the boredom of living alone. I don't suppose the robot would wipe off the top of the fridge freezer or kitchen cupboard nor would it empty the fridge and mop it out once a month.
Other jobs she does is to vacuum the curtains, make my bed and clean the lamp shades.
Plenty of other jobs the robot can't do.

The robot looks like a handy device though but I will stick with the old fashioned method.
Oh, I nearly forgot, the cleaner and her hubby brought me a birthday card and bottle of wine for my birthday (tomorrow folks), you won't get that from your robot.

Seems fair to me!

How did we get onto mens toilet habits?

Margaret was explaining, but missed a bit out, that you should have the lid down when you flush to stop a fine mist of what you just left behind ending up in the air and you breathing it in.

Yesterday my robot spoke to me

It had got trapped between the legs of a swivel chair.
It instructed me, in a female transatlantic accent, to relocate it.

If anyone still has shares in Ewbank, sell now
