MMMM -My favourite liquer - with the coffee beans it is named Sambuca con Mosca which translated means 'with flies'. There are many continental liquers based on aniseed but this is by far the smoothest.

Re: sambuca

I find sambuca too sweet. Any ideas on making it less sweet without adding fruitjuices.

Alternate sips with extra strong unsweetened espresso - this thread is making me salivate (slaver to you )

Re: sambuca

I like most anise drinks

I used to love a large pernod in teh top of a pint of dry cider. Or with lemonade over lots of ice.

I got leathered on Ouzo one night in a bar in Benllech whilst at Uni. Amazing as it had no affect till we walked outside then no one could stand up!

I also like teh licorice baseddrinks liek Galliano

Re: sambuca

Worst hangovers ever on any annisette drink ,Sambuca, Pernod, Ricard, Ouzo , etc. even 12 hours later you take a drink of water and you are s**tfaced again, (think its because of the high sugar content)

a tip I learned many years ago , never drink a drink you can't see through . e,g, Bushmills and water , no problemo . Cheap red wine .....bad head following morning

Galliano is to die for, i once drank nearly a whole bottle of that whilst at richards one night, and 'forgot' to replace it, Glayva is lovely too
