Re: Trading Standards!!!!!!

Thanks for that reference. I have meant to contact them for ages. Now I did so immediately.

As a diabetic I had been concerned about sweets and biscuits on the markets being described as suiatable for diabetics!

Re: Trading Standards!!!!!!

There are sweets in chemist/health food shops described as suitable for diabetics too and a diabetic relative of mine was told by his doctor to avoid them.

Those will be my dying thoughts as well! I wasn't 100% sure but now I know it has killed me. Diabetes is a killer and I find it difficult to be moderate and now my diabetes is starting to get out of control.

There's a lot to learn. Do you monitor your Blood Glucose?

I find that doing my own research is essential. Doctors know very little and can give bad advice. My last doctor rolled his eyes (meaning: who does this ignoranous think he is?) when I first told him I would find out all I need. He told me very little and the three dieticians that I saw were useless. A year later he admitted to a new doctor in the surgery that I knew more than he did.

The best diabetic doctor is a doctor with diabetes.

So "I just take the tablets" sounds like it's the doctors responsibility to control your disease. The responsibility should be yours. Diabetics usually live a long life if the BG is kept under control. But they can and usually do die from diabetic complications ("problems" you call them).

I wish I could get those numbers. I'd like to stay between 4 and 8 but have known to peak to 12 and that's getting more prevalent these days. My feet are hurting now so I suspect I'm somewhere between 9 and 12. Yep, just measured up at 11. That's after eating a load of biscuits!

There's no diabetic clinic at my doctors.

Is the Stag a regular meet? What/where/when?
