we have automatic postcode search in our database system, so think i will give it a miss, but thanks Entwisi.

While I still cannot figure out what the heck its use would be (you can do better on google maps) it did say that it was paid for by the tax payer, that included me so I should be ableto use it.

I have seen no definite proof that t is not legally made available, for all you now it could be an old version that has been released with permission from someone.

All you are doing is making conjecture, thinking the worst without proof.

And TBH I dont really give a monkeys whether you think it wrong to be there or not, its not like its a state secret or likely to put anyones life at risk.

And I doubt that there will be any loss in revenue for anyone if it was not legally put online.

There have been enough databases of information put out that were not supposed to be that were a tad more important than a list of post codes

One use for this database would be for creating POI files for your SatNav, if it doesn't have full postcode search built-in.

For students, it also references the NHS districts if you fancy doing a bit of statistical analysis to see if the so-called "postcode lottery" really does exist.
