Where can I get a Spaghetti Pan?

Well, Here's another thing you can perhaps help me with, I'm looking for a Spaghetti pan.
The reason for this is because Anne gave me a recipe for Spaghetti bolagnostic it's similar I believe to Spaghetti bolognese except that I overheard Anne tell Mick that she doesn't believe I'll be able to make it as long as I've got a hole in my a*se!

Well I've taken up the challenge, the sauce & meat were easy enough to prepare but when it came to the spaghetti I found I had a problem because I don't have a pan the right shape! From what I can work out it should be oblong about 12" long & perhaps 4" wide, I've tried googling for it but so far have had no luck.

I did find a set of steamer type pans under the sink & thought that if I stacked all three pans together & put the spaghetti through the holes I would be able to make do, but when the spaghetti goes soft it seems to tie itself in knots & makes the pans difficult to seperate unless I break the strands.

Also, I've been forcing some rhubarb in my back garden it is now ready for an early crop, I had thought of trying to make a nice crumble with it, but on looking under the sink I couldn't find a 2 foot baking tin to cook it in.

Is there some sort of specialist shop & would I be able to get both my Spaghetti pan & my baking tin from the same place?

Your immediate help would be appreciated as the sauce has been ready now for three days & I'm frightened that the moisture will all have boiled away by the time I get the spaghetti done.

Re: Where can I get a Spaghetti Pan?

Surely if you have a pan made out of spaghetti it will collapse as soon as you put water in it.

Any large pan will do for cooking spaghetti, as it will soften and collapse as it is placed in the hot water.
If you do insist on cooking it straight, how about using a fish poacher, a long narrow pan like this one: http://www.cookware-online.co.uk/ish...hopscr411.html

I've orered two Sparks because then I can use one for my rhubarb.

But I must admit at first I thought that you were trying to wind me up after all why would a fish poacher want to come round here and cook my tea for me? He would be too busy getting ready to do a nights fishing.

Did you ever do the experiment as a kid were you tried burning a hole in a paper bag full of water? if you did you will find the water will boil 1st.
You will have to get a bag full of water and fill it with water and hold it over the gas.
Never tried it with plastic (ps dont try this kids, get your dad to show you)

I've always used a large stockpot to cook spaghetti. Works well!

Re: Where can I get a Spaghetti Pan?

Sorry, I think I've missed the point. Why do you want a long pan to cook your spaghetti in? Will you be laying it out on the plate in straight lines when serving it. Surely the whole point of a plate of spaghetti is that it's a tangled mess that's hard to eat without splattering yourself. Plus, if it's causing you problems why not try pasta shells instead?

Re: Where can I get a Spaghetti Pan?

Pop along to Franco's and watch them cook it in a normal pan of boiling water, the spaghetti is placed in a cone type thing with holes in, then placed in the pan of boiling water.............easy

Obvious innit Mick? When you fill up the bag full of water the water in it will be dissolved by the water you fill it up with so it only takes up the same space.
