Alley gating is ok, but how much will it cost? Take for example the grit bin on the springhill web-site how much do they cost to replace? The one on Fairfield Street is currently being used as a new dustbin.

I assume it would come from a different budget, and maybe government money would be involved. Dunno for sure.

Just think though, no gangs of youths sitting outside back yard gates drinking alcohol and being a nuisance.

In some places where this has been done before, it has ended up with people having more of a sense of community. People in some places have even been putting plants out in the back alleys.

Just out of interest, did you know that  most back alleys had gates at one time. they were taken away during the war, to be melted down.

Well lads as it stands.We live in Germany and our bins are kept outside all the time.The thing that keeps Germany so clean is that there are on the spot fines and all culprits are named in the local paper.Maybe a system like that would make people think twice about doing stuff.
