Top record shop - sold both new and used records. Accyweb member and Clayton End habituee Uncle Mick was a permanent fixture there in the 70's.

The Disc and Tape was the best record shop in the late seventies.
At that time most albums were about four quid. Which if you take into account inflation, and the cost of buying music today, was relatively expensive, in relation to today's prices.
Was worth every penny though.

Re: 1st LP you bought and played it until your Mum wanted to kill you!!!!
Scrittie Politti's first album Songs to Remember and my Japan album, Assemblage were the most frequently played. I used to play them over and over and over again.
But, my Mum used to do the ironing in the room next to my bedroom and after an hour or so of my 'suicide music' as she called it, she begged me to play my Bat out of Hell album. It was never, ever cool to admit that I liked Meat Loaf at the time, but I guess it's ok now.

Another record that drove my parents daft was, Billy Fury.....Once Upon A dream.
I think I wore that record out.

I bought "Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan and my Mum hated it, we had a sort of stereogram thing so it had to be shared by everybody in the house, still got the LP

Thanks Cashy but I don't think that's the shop I'm on about... this was a very small shop a couple of doors to the Black Horse and only sold second hand records mostly singles (like 10p a single)... got alot of 60's Tamla from there early 70's.
