Re: 1st pint, 1st local.

Drink related! When Mum and Dad came back from the "Old Band Club" my Dad would always be singing a few lines of a song that sticks with me today, "Suger in the morning suger in the evening suger at supper time, be my little suger and love me all the time!" any ideas if this was a proper song and if so who sang it and when???

I can remember it too GDM.
Could it possibly be from some very old American film ( such as a Fred Astaire or a Shirley temple horror!!?

Not my thang I hasten to add. Can't imagine GDM senior singing this on his way back from the Band Club, but here's the top lad of 1957 (just before he got religion)...

I know that the Village Blacksmith is no more .... but I pray that the Forts is still there. Many's the time I popped in for a quick one while waiting for the bus ... and left at the forceful request of the landlord several hours later.

Re: 1st pint, 1st local.

We used to go from Ossy to the Bridge (?) at Clayton - anyway it was on the main road next to the canal (or railway?) bridge. Lion pub. Not sure why we went there - change of scene, better beer, some lasses - can't remember!
