Re: Accrington & District Boys Football League

I remember my Dad playing for Clayton Park Rangers, when I was little, think that would've been in the early sixties, don't know what league (if any) they were in though.

Played for St James YC in mid sixties. Manager was Bobby Ratcliffe's (cricketer) dad. Other teams I can recall were Ossy Rovers, who played at White Ash, Haslingden Olympic who played on the side of a mountain and a team from Feniscowles who got kicked out of the league for fielding over aged players.

Incidentally Cashman, there are archive pics of St Augustine's here

Training 2000 ACCRINGTON & DISTRICT JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Go to 'Early Years' and open word document

Remember Steve Lee from AGS and also James Ashe from Peel Park.

Iwas in the same year at school Bob & Grahams sister[Olwen]
I used to go over White Ash to watch Stan Bullcock, Irving Cookson and a small lad (Jackie something) They played for Ossie Rovers and I think it was in the early 60's. I know they were all still at Rhyddings school though.
I can also remember a good footballer from Accy called Derek Charlesworth but can't remember the name of the team

Stan, Irving went on to form Surf United after leaving school, along with John Bradshaw (Surfer) Graham Hargreaves (Goalie) my ex-brother-in-law, Bob Rawlinson, as for Jackie, can't remember his name either, think he live on lodge terrace which backed onto the Green (gypsy site) had a sister, I actually think he emigrated to Canada in the late sixties, but not 100% sure

I saw Stan 3 years ago at a wedding and I also saw Irving but he doesn't go on too well (after a terrible fall at work I believe) unfortunately he didn't remember me.
The Jacky guy lived on White Ash lane I think.
I love all this reminiscing!!
