Accrington & District Boys Football League

Does anyone remember the names of the teams in this league, especially about 1963?

Did anyone play for any of these teams?

I think you might be a little way out on the date [1963].most of the players mentioned were still at school then, and were playing for Ossie Rovers, run by Fred Hindle & Tom Proctor.
Surf Utd was run by Eric Moore.and started later.
Iwas in the same year at school Bob & Grahams sister[Olwen]

I played for Clayton Rangers, also in the league as I remember were Barnfield, I think a team called Loyola, and Accrington Rangers. Can't remember any more.

Re: Accrington & District Boys Football League

Thanks to everyone for their recollections. Jeff, I think you've solved my problem. I played for a team in the league and I could not remember the name. I'm now pretty sure it was Loyola.

I know that we found it difficult to raise a team of 11, and we were often beaten. But somehow, we made it to a league cup final that was played at Peel Park. We lost 1 -3, but it's one of my proudest moments. I also played for a representative team from the League. I still have a photograph that I shall try to upload.

Not sure about that, cashy. It's possible, but I don't know what the origins were.
