Re: Accrington Fish market

I remeber that the fish trains used to come in on Tuesday and Friday. Nothing like fresh fish, although finny was great, my gran used to do it in milk, and in the right season we could have it with those little new spuds, about the size of marbles.

Store bought fish that was frozen some time in the last ice age really sucks. Fortunately Lake Ontario is about a five minute walk away, and for those with a little patience there is fresh lake trout, salmon, pickerel, and the angler's fave, bass. (Why anyone would name a beer after a fish confuses me).

The fish market in Accy use to be one of the best in East Lancashire, up to 6 stalls selling the best landed in Fleetwood or Whitby.

Now....well its all gone.

Just like the rest of Accy....nowt left!!

Do you remember "Molly's Seafood Galore" - a little green kiosk on Accrington Fish Market? Her real name was Mrs. Bolton. She was always very friendly. We gave her one of my school photos, taken when I was six.

Always used to get fish from Bramwells for Good Friday, until a couple of years ago when the daughter started getting it from ASDA with my normal shopping sign of the times I suppose
