Accrington's Last Bus

Does anyone remember catching the last bus from Peel St. All the buses left at the same time when the Market Hall clock struck 11pm. On the first gong, all the buses would set off and try to be the first out of Peel St. Invariably, the Oswaldtwistle bus would win, but I have seen the Green Haworth bus beat it even though it had to come from Infant St.
Tony Ireland and gdm27 like this.

I never, ever was allowed to stay out so late.
I had to be home by 10.30 right up to the time I got married.
I feel I missed out. I never saw the end of a film at the pictures.

It was the Woodnook single decker for me, that was always fast off the blocks. If memory serves me right it used set off from Church Street just outside the Arcade at onetime?

Used to catch the last Hyndburn Circular to Clayton at 10.20pm, but sure there used to be the X31 to Clitheroe from Manchester leaving Accy Bus Station just before midnight.

your right there, Smobile, I used to get the same bus to Clayton, Clive Lloyd was on the same bus sometimes when he was at Haslingden.
