I hadn't seen this post, when I made the above, didn't know about the comedian, but knew where the nme came from. Didn't realise the group were a forerunner of J. Turner Four

had heard of them back in the 60s
wasnt J Turner a hairdresser from haslingden
whent on to run the nightclub in whalley the Valkiery or Sandpiper ?

Spot on beechy, my ex-wife served her time at James's Salon in Hassy and he did have the Sandpiper, He later moved to Rishton and had a salon on the Main drag Hermitage Street I think its called, sadly he died a few years ago, about 5 I would think. The last time I saw him he was singing at the Stop and Rest in Ossy with the Accy Rockers, well some of them, that was in the late nineties.

Roy Taylor was in the Tredwheels Al, a group i mentioned early in the thread, Mick Stirzaker still is into music, have a couple of his cds that he gave me n paris, spoke to him last week, is also giving guitar lessons to folk.

Nearly sure there was a big bloke played with them called Dave, can't think of his last name, but he used to work in a trade hardware store on a street which ran between Sandy Lane and Plantation Street, can't remember the street name or the store,

jaysay would that be david tomlinson big guy with glasses who later played in several groups with royston jones and rodney hill.

Remember Dave Tomlinson well....he and my brother David Duckworth were inseparable.They played with Royston James later too...and then became Jackanory.Anybody remember Kris Ryan and the Questions?

Thanks Atarah, been racking my brains (yes I have one Neil)but couldn't remember the street or the firm, I was never away from the trade counter when I was a happyrentice

both dave duckworth and dave tomlinson played in the deroys my ex was the singer.
