Ellisons tenement /Accy fair
Does it still happen ? where ?
think it used to be the week before Easter, then all the small fairs joined up for a big one on the old Blackburn market place , going back to the early late 50s/early 60s here , the days before the powers that be razed Thwaites Arcade and other gems .

Re: Ellisons tenement /Accy fair
Ellisons tenement is now a builders yard after the buses were pulled out.
The fair is now situatied near the railway staion in the old Town Hall/Skills Training/Railway Station (Manchester platform and goods).
The Fair has been for Easter and will come back again about the start of October just in time for the Half-Term break

Re: Ellisons tenement /Accy fair
Used to love the fair way back when it was on Ellisons Tenement...that heady aroma of candyfloss, fried onions and diesel...the dodgy-looking, slightly exotic characters running the stalls...and pop records always sounded that bit more exciting blasted through the speakers on the Waltzer!

So do i mez. It used to be Blackburn Rovers v Burnley normally on easter Monday. Dad, bro, bro-in-law would go to the match and me, mum, sisters and my niece would go to the fair and pot fair. Then when the match had finished we'd all meet up. In fact i've still got a mug that my dad bought me from the pot fair and i still use it not often though only when i run out of clean mugs!!!
