Re: Huncoat Youth Club
Taddy, you are right....Pilkington is my married name. My maiden name was Duxbury......and if you are 67 then it is likely that you would have been in the same year as me at Woodnook.

Although I have put my remembering head on, I'm afraid I can't recall a Margaret Duxbury, the name Mick Duxbury strikes a long forgotten cord in the old subconscious and as for Riley's hill I am afraid that you will have to explain where that is as I have never heard of it; but then again I do come from Huncoat, where if anyone wants to leave they have to obtain the key from the watchman and be home before the clock strikes midnight, .
You say that you have a good memory for names, My moniker is Mick Hadfield. my sister Linda also went to Woodnook but she is two years younger than me but you may remember her.

Re: Huncoat Youth Club
Yes, the name rings a bell....and Linda too.
Riley's Hill is near Priestley Clough.....where we used to do Cross Country runs.....Bullough Park is that way too.

Re: Huncoat Youth Club

Past my bedtime, Ah well, stay happy, Yours Taddy.

Re: Huncoat Youth Club
He always scared me to death......maths was my worst nightmare.
Mr Allen was headmaster. Miss Croston for Art, Mrs Thompson for RI. Mr Gale was form teacher...he was a big chap who would squeeze himself into a little White Renault.
It was Mrs Whittaker who took the girls on those cross country runs, up past Nelson's farm.....she used to watch through Binocs to see who,was smoking on the way back......smoke?
It took me all my time to run and breathe!

Re: Huncoat Youth Club
I have copied a photograph of the Woodnook football team in the 1961/62 season and I am going to ask my good lady,(or even the wife), , if she will take it into the accy observer office on friday when she is down in the big city shopping. Hopefully they will print it in the paper the following week,(if of course that is how it works).
Stay happy as ever, Yours Taddy.

Re: Huncoat Youth Club
Taddy, I am sure the Accrington Museum in the Arndale would also like a copy.

In the search section at the top of the page put in Huncoat youth club and see what you get.
