Talking about toilets i remember the newspaper, slinging your bum over a wooden plank with a hole in it.The old tin bath that came out every Friday in front of the fire while your parents were boiling the water up on the gas cooker.Where neighbours talked to each other and kids could talk to strangerswithout you having to be worried.
Them were the days.
Ah the old "Tippler". Using the "Evening Telegraph" as toilet paper, lighting it and throwing it down the hole in winter just to warm yer bum.

Thruppni bits, Ten bob notes, Pound notes, Half a crown, Sixpence, Florins, Tuppences  and I can't spell what was half a penny  haipney? aipny?  whatever ?

There was quarter of a penny with a robin on.

Whoever invented decimilisation was too clever by 0.5

The penny tray at the shop was wierd cus ya could suddenly get three things for one pence.

Post Re: i remember when.....

FOUR ??

12 pennies made a shilling
5 new pence was the equivelant using a bob.. 5 pence bit

thus it was 2. summat pennies to a one new pence. Shops used to err on the safe side thus 2 things from the penny tray but the country played up buggery because they got less for there money (using penny trays as an example here) so some shops erred on the other side and you may have got 3 things for one new pence... But four?  That was a good shop
