My great aunt who ran a Bispham boarding house (1940s) served no other type of bread - she had a bread slicer the size of a bacon slicer - guests must have eaten lots of it, but food was rationed then.

I remember the Milk Roll, but does it still exist today I can't remember seeing a milk roll for ages, but I don't do shopping these days

It certainly does exist and I buy it occasionally. My daughter loves it and says it reminds her of her Nan (my mum) who always bought it when ever she went to stay with Mum and Dad as a child. She still calls it Blackpool Milk Roll because my mother did.
