Re: New Era Youth Club
Hi everyone, My name is Pete, i live up in Cumbria and i found out about your club many years ago when some of you came to visit us up here about 1972 to be precise. I live in a little village by the sea called Haverigg,. in Cumbria and around about 72 we, my pals and i met some of you . We got to know you all pretty well in the two weeks that you stayed would love to hear from anyone who might still be connected with the club, although we are now getting on some, who might remember that summer. look forward to your replies , Havriggite.

Re: New Era Youth Club
For my first ever 'date' I was taken to New Era youth club. I was about 13 or 14, it was the Friday night club in the really dark, dingy room. Very loud and mostly heavy metal fans. I wasn't a heavy metal fan then and I definitely am not now!
I then started going to some of the discos that were held in the main hall. Great fun because the age range was so big - you had kids there and 18/19 year olds too.

Re: New Era Youth Club
I also remember when they had a few bands on downstairs. Tiger Tails were a mod band from Burnley, The Molestors, apunk band from Bristol and Victor Drago, a jazz rock outfit whose lead trombonist wore an orange boiler suit!
By the way Gayle when did you drop the use of your surname? So famous shes only known by one name just like Kylie, Lulu, Marilyn and...er...Crippen.

Ah but I remember your real name!!
Back to the Era, I remember a thin guy who looked a little like Tenpole Tudor who we christened Pigbag because the only record he ever danced to was Papas Got A Brand New Pigbag. Then there was Russ the Human League fan with the lopsided hairdo and Chaddy.....
In fact I`ve got photos of most of `em somewhere
