prior to the new bus station being built
it then moved to first stall nearest the market hall

Cheeky B, Not quite the plot, just some of the details along the way
Ok, have now got to agree, just spoken to my friend's hubby .. says definitely Union Street, worked in Blackburn and had to run for the bus everyday, was pleased when they moved it near the market 'cause didn't have as far to run ! Just can't picture it that's all.
Anyway, Cashy owe you 6d ... I lied actually, was 7d.

Re: not a taxi
If I remember rightly there were two bus stops on Union Street, one for the Blackburn Express (number 9) and one for the Blackburn Stopping (number 46). When the buses came back from Blackburn they used to turn down King Street to get to Union Street.

Express and Stopping...I'd forgotten all about that! Was it a higher fare on the Express?

I haven't the foggiest idea, it's just a photo that I found. It looks like Union Street car park behind the bus.
