Yeh . was it not Union Street Club ? LOL.

In Shurmer's Guide he states that is was proposed to move these premises to the junction of Queen Street at its junction with Bank Street .. did this happen ? Not the Brooks club now is it ?

it was called brooks club,then it moved to near peel street

Those of you who pocess a level of intelligence a little higher than that of a housemite may have worked out that the four large letters above the door of the club, was in fact the name of the club, although it was often referred to as the Union St Club. DDSS stood for Disabled and Discharged Soldiers and Sailors.

it was re named brook st club
after it was moved almost sure it was the ddss club
disabled distressed sailors and soldiers club
i think the halifax actually bought the building

I don't know about Union Street as it wasn't a club I used but Brooks Club have a lot of involvement with The Royal British Legion. They use the club as their headquareters.

im sure the royal british legion club
took over the canine club when it was on abbey st
forty years back before it it moved to were it is now
