Re: Take me back.(soul)

Cashman, I'll bet Jackie Brenston gets a mention when they get to talking about Ike & Tina, as Ike backed him on his classic "Rocket 88".

Etta James...one righteous, blueswailin' lady...and still going strong!

Thumbs up Re: Take me back.(soul)

One of my favourite soul records has to be 'Rainy Night In Georgia' by Brook Benton. It knocks the socks off the Randy Crawford version.

Hope they Screen Soul Deep over here. The ABC usually shows all the music docs, such as Walk on by, Get up stand up, etc, etc. See what I miss by living in Tasmania, But you cant have your cake eh.

Re: Take me back.(soul)

Saw a couple of clips on the internet from Soul Deep, of Etta James and Alain Toussaint, vision and sound poor. A couple of other names, to remember, Don Covay, Darrell Banks, Betty Everett.

Glad you caught last Saturday's episode, Cashman. It was, in my opinion, one of the best music programmes I've ever seen on TV. Otis, Aretha, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and the most underrated singer of all time - James Carr. Al, if this series ever gets to Tasmania, miss this episode at your peril!

RE Chess records Story. BBC said they broadcast it, but was made by an indipendent company, I tried emailing them but no reply. Maybe Soulmen, Wynonie, or Cashman, Can try to get some information. [email protected]
