[This is for you] Ooh she may be weary
And them young girls they do get weary
Wearing that same old shaggy dress
But when they get weary
[You gotta] try a little tenderness....................

Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder (fonder)
And that tears are only rain to make love grow
Well my love for you could never grow no stronger (stronger)
If I lived to be a hundred years old..............

"Sock It To 'Em JB" - Rex Garvin & the Mighty Cravers. You've all heard it, whether you know it or not, as it was used in one of the KFC commercials. An instant floorfiller at Accy Disco in 1967.

Re: Take me back.(soul)
Question. for Wynonie. Can you give us the actual definition of what" Northern Soul " really is, there are so many variations, its conffusing. I dont think the term was around in the 60s.

Re: Take me back.(soul)
wasn't around in 60s alan kicked off in70s at wigan casino to the best of my knowledge, although a good few records that took off as northern soul were 60s records some hits most wern't at that time, one 60s chart hit that was mega for a short while at wigan was supergirl- graham bonney, classic record but criminally just a minor 60s hit, probably wynonie can fill you in with more detail than me.

Re: Take me back.(soul)
I would say that Northern Soul had its origins at the Twisted Wheel in Manchester around 68/69. Soul music in America was moving in a funky James Brown-style direction, but the dancers at the Wheel preferred the 60's Motown-style sound. To satisfy the demand for fresh sounds the DJs began to dig out obscure records in tihs style which had been released in the 60's, but ignored at the time. The cult rapidly grew, spreading to Blackpool Mecca, the Torch in Stoke and of course Wigan Casino where it achieved national prominence. Nowadays it's a catch-all term for any obscure or semi-obscure 60's or even 70's record in this style.
