With you on that one too .. just summat different about them both. Birtwells used to come down our street with his horse and cart selling the ice cream, had a place up Huncoat next to the pub where he made it.
Had a whistle to let you know he was around ... not those recorded things which are torture on the ear drums.

Biggest disaster that happened when Birtwells closed up ice cream making. As a kid in the summer we would go into the little area it was made for a cone. Can still smell and taste it oh memories. Wonder if Ian and Linda still have the recipe??

Re: Tricketts.........
Do you remember Tricketts in the Market Hall? You could go inside the stall and sit down with an Iced Lemon - oh I can still taste it! There is a shop in Ossy, just opposite the Civic Centre, next to the gym, that make their own ice cream in Summer, and it is good. There's also one in Chatburn, on a corner, that does fabulous home made ice cream.

Was going through old threads and found this. Is Tricketts still going used to love their ice cream. Wasn't it Eddie Riley that owned it?
