Which reminds me - who remembers the very first episode of Doctor Who? And who remembers the first episode of the series when it was brought back about 6 or 7 years ago co-starring the drunken smoker Ms Piper at the point when she encountered a pic of the good Doctor stood on a grassy verge, looking at something that has just happened. None of the TV critics picked this up at the time, but some of you may know what I'm talking about. What was it?
Can't help you there Tealeaf didn't watch the first ever episode nor the return a few years ago, never been a fan

Must admit Tealeaf, after 10 minutes of quick dialogue, short changing shots and trying to adjust to someone called Sherlock in the present day, (along with the fact that if you have a gammy leg, then the walking stick is held on the opposite side to support it) I decided not to like it, however, I did persevere and by the end gave the thumbs up that I absolutely loved it.

You couldn't even make the name up of the actor playing the title role :Benedict Cumberbatch. He is terrific.

Looking forward to the next one.

Re: What did you watch when you was a nipper?

used to play hopscotch
one of the songs went -
ring a ring of roses a pocket full of poses - ' I think relates to the great plague of London in the 18th century.
another one which bemuses me -
'some talk of Alexandrer and some of Hercules
of Hector and Lysander and such great men of these
but of all the men there ever was
there's none that can compare
with a oh and a ah and ee and haa
as the -------------???

oh the grand old Duke of York he had ten thousand men
he marched them up to the top of the hill and he marched them down again
and when they were up they were up -----------------------

(nursery rhymes got us talking - and thinking ??)

Re: What did you watch when you was a nipper?

Bootsy and Smudge(Snudge??) Was watching an old 60's movie this afternoon and Alfie Bass turned up. I seem to remember him in an old comedy show back in the early 60's where he was in the army with Smudge/Snudge. Not going to look it up on Google as I'm sure my chums on here can help me! Also in the film was a woman who was also in a comedy where she was in a union and always blowing her whisle shouting "everyone out!!" No Google, who remembers?

Re: What did you watch when you was a nipper?

The first thing I watched - the dot in the middle of the screen.
Returned from a cycling holiday in North Wales to find there was a TV in the corner. Mum & Dad were away on holiday, so switched it on - bright dot in the middle of the screen as it was late at night, what a disappointment
