Hey Fibi I was 16 when I had my first, and 18 when I had my second. Alot people say " oh that was young " but always worked to support kids, still married to their dad, and like yourself, never regretted it either. When my eldest is 16 I will be 32 years young.................. still living it up lol.

They are 9 and 7 now and I like growing with them!!!!

Re: What were you doing 20 years ago?

20 years ago I was 27 and I had has little idea of what I was doing then as I do now...

I was if I recall correctly working at Rossall Hospital. I worked 12 hours shifts, and spent most of my “off duty” time ****ed. It was around that time people became concerned that my love for the high life of the New Anchor Public House following a recent divorce was affecting my physical and mental health. It did for a time and then the whole thing collapsed; it’s surprising what another mans suicide can do to wake one up.

The man who died was my estranged brother in laws brother. The night he took his life I was sat in tears on top of a ladder contemplating my future or the closing of it.

Doug, that's a warming and inspirational post, but what were you doing up the ladder?

Five day’s before I had been on nights, when I finish work I went out and bought a new three piece suite (my first bit of furniture since the divorce) and a T Bone Steak, that afternoon I put the steak on the grill and sat on the bed listening to the radio. I fell asleep. I awoke at the sound of the lady next door banging on the door and screaming fire through the letter box. I had been asleep for two hours. The steak was completely gone along with most of the grill.

Why was I up a ladder? I was trying to strip the burnt and smoke damaged paper off my kitchen walls. At the time I became suicidal, I was ****ed, crying and demented at the fact that my first chance at getting on my feet had gone with my dinner a week earlier. It took me a month to redecorate the Kitchen and a further year to recover from the cost of the fire. I have never bought a T Bone since that day…..

Doug, that is such a sad and funny post. I really was laughing tears of joy/sadness then.

Thanks for the explanation re: the ladder. I'm just glad you weren't peeping through next door's bedroom window.

I for one buy the fire story.

Every word is true. It is funny now and I have no difficult with discussing the fact it came so close. Worst of it is, I would change very little of what’s happened in my life. It still ****e.

If you had just bought a three piece suite why did you fall asleep on the bed waiting for the T bone steak?? ok let me guess .... you bought the suite from CS lounge suites........................... yeah i understand now, there not very comfortable see if you had bought it from DFS you would'nt have gone to bed, therefor you could have had a lovely meal without the dragon next door breathing fire through your letter box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The moral? The moral is don’t allow yourself to sink into the mire of drink and self pity. There’s only darkness there….
