Re: What your mother used to say
Not my Mum who said this but my Grandma
"Finish your food, there's children in Biafra starving who'd love that".

And did you answer back
''Well they're welcome to it. Shall we parcel it up and send it to them?''

Re: What your mother used to say
If I stood in front of the Tv my Dad used to say 'you make a better door than a window'.
He also used to say 'do you think we live in a barn' if I didn't shut the door.
I use both of those now myself!

My mum used to say "Princess Margaret wouldn't do that"
We weren't aware then that there wasn't much she DIDN'T do

What were you thinking of doing when they told you that?
Signing the pledge, and also thinking of stopping smoking?
I went to my mum's for tea yesterday, although I'm loads better, my hand was really shaking badly, so I stuck it in my trouser pocket. Mum said not to do that, as it didn't look 'nice'.

Re: What your mother used to say
Once when I was pestering my Mum for something she said.
"You can ask me from now till Christmas but you are not getting anything else today!"
Or how about "Stop waving that stick about. You'll have somebody's eye out!"
How often have you seen a kid with an eye on the end of a stick?
