No doubting it. My good lady and I went there twice a week for two or three years before we married in 1963. Small place with a great atmosphere. If only we could turn the clock back!

2 questions, was it the Concord in the market close to the Cavendish and what was the name of the pub, I think they did it up and changed the name in the early 70's, on the run to the Palms which you got to at the end of the path through the Cathedral from the bus station?

I used the Pub every night prior to oing into work at the Cav, it was called the Concord, not sure what your second question was though, the path from the Deck to the Pamls was Dandy Walk

There was a new pub near the Cavendish called the Clarence opened about the same time, used to go out with the barmaid, Pub at the end of Dandy Walk was the Sun I think.

pot on Alan the pub was called the Clarence not the Concord, if I remember rightly wasn't there a concord pub in the precinct leading of the bus station in Burnley, may have been under the old Lucas club, Lancsdave will know

That was it, the Clarence, bit like drinking in a large featureless hall if I remember. As regards the pub at the end (and a bit further) of Dandy Walk, does the name Mucky Duck mean anything or am I way off???

There's mention of the Empire in these two threads too.

The Mucky Duck, used to be the Castle, it was part of the Barbary Coast, up a side street, cant remember name. There was another bar in the Clarence, called the York bar. Used to drink in the Kierby a lot jaysay. Was there a coffee bar under the Clarence called the Elderado.

I can remember seeing the Hollies in about 1962-3 but I can't remember where.
Could it have been Rawtenstall because first we went to a girl's house in Haslingden (Sheila Tuey (Paddock House) and her dad accompanied us.Mind you, might have been Nelson!
I also went to a place in Bolton (very dingy) and I think Rod Stewart was on.
Can't remember the name of it either ( it's the red wine that's pickling my brain my brain.
This thread has brought back loads of memories, I used to go up the Ossie Empire and they used to stamp your hand if you wanted to go out for some fresh air!
