Can any one remember the petrol station that was at the bottom and on the left of church st as you went down it or remember the pub called the Astronaut where under age drinkers used to hide up stairs

what about the great old Accy baths not just for swimming some people didnt have a bath or shower so they would pay 10p for a bath which i thought were huge when i was younger lol. from the above message it wasnt church st it was union st and a forgetfull moment lol

yeah lushy.. was it 10p? near on price of a pint in my day...had one there when semi homeless and it was a bloody big bath!

the first darkie i ever saw lived right across from the owd baths, was a smart bloke n all the grown ups called him the "Black Prince" that would be 57/58 ish.

Astronaut was on Union Street not Church Street (which I see you've corrected in another post) Was a regular in there most Friday and Saturday nights during the mid-seventies, used to go in there with Italian John from the Blue Dahlia in Accy and Alf who ran the Dahlia on Blackburn Boulevard

Wonder if anyone kept the model Astronaut that was fixed to the ceiling?

Is this the Church St in Accrington, if so, there's never been a petrol station in Church St.

Who Remembers the pub called the Pickwick i think it was next to the old picture house in Accrington and the old air raid shelter which is now the council work yard just of willows lane on the left past the bridge as you go up.
