advice please

I have just acquired a laptop and i would like to know if there is a way i can link it to my main pc in the same room without going wireless . I HAVE INSTALLED THE INTERNET ONTO IT BUT CAN ONLY RUN IT IF I DISCONNECT IT FROM MY MAIN PC . what i would like to know is are there any leads i can get so as to enable my daughter to be able to sit on the sofa and run the internet at the same time as me running it on my pc at the same time .. if that makes sense ... thanks ..

Re: advice please

you need to set up internet connection sharing and then connect the laptop to the computer.

Re: advice please

If both PCs have an network port (ethernet) then you need a crossover cable and as sparhawk mentioned then set up connection sharing.

Is there any major reason why you don't want to do it wirelessly?
