Desktop Icons

My 1 year old son has taken to bashing the keyboard. Anyway somehow hes Managed to make all the icons (shotcuts) on my desktop all have a dark background. (sorry dont know how to get a picture of it) If anyone has any idea what i'm on about and how to get the dark background off I would be very greatful because I really dont like it!

I know what you mean but can't remember how its done, I "Think" if you right click on your desktop and select properties you change it in there from the appearance tab

Try this

Go to the Control Panel
Go to Performance and Maintenance(category view)
Go to System
Go to the Advanced tab
Go to Performance/Setting
Add check to "Use drop shadow for icon lables on the desktop.

right click on your desktop

hover over arrange icons by

then untick where it says lock web items on desktop


that will remove the dark background of your icons


let me know if it works because theres another few ways that it can happen but thats probably the most logical seen as it as a kid bashing around teh pc mouse and keyboard and not you playing with settings
