laptop ?????

after a reader for my packard bell laptop,asked at pc world ,looked on the packard bell website all to no avail, anyone out there any ideas?

just your normal dvd reader for loading software, not bothered with having a writer as well.

I take it that it has a Cd in now but you want to upgrade it to a dvd right?

yes it has the cd in it but not working, will not read anything i put in keeps on comming up with this disc may be contaminated ,tried various but all the same.mick had a play with it and he reckons its k-nackered.

Befroe you condem it whats it showing in device manager?
I have a Packard bell laptop and that has a dvd writer in it made by NEC, let me know the type of laptop and I will try and find one suitable

Best thing to do is network it up with your main pc and use the dvd reader/writer you already have. It's not often you need an optical drive in a notebook so this is a much better and cheaper solution.

need it for downstairs roy when the web meet is on and look up info for the customers, got all the wireless stuff to put on and the router ready to load just want to get the notebook up and running o.k and if i want to trade it in for a newy ?

The 1 staggers has in is a toshiba DVD reader the laptop nows its there but no matter what disc he puts in it wont read it it just comes up with disc corrupt
his laptop is a packard bell

external USB 2 cases start at ~£20 ish a DVD drive will be about the same.

Have a shufty on ebuyer, dabs, scan etc

They have 1 at A.R.D electronics but its a bit expencive £75 plus vat
