Re: laptop

First things I would try is -
1. Check it isn`t disabled.
2. Remove from device manager, then reboot.
3. update drivers.

Re: laptop

Same subject only different.

Last week I set my Nokia Lumia atop of my laptop touchpad during a conference call to the States.
Loud crack from laptop and it was as dead as a culled badger in Somerset.
WTF was my reaction with much stabbing of buttons CtrlAltDel's and such.
Scheisse as DinG would say.
Winged the link call then looked to get it sorted.
Removed battery and did a cold boot.
Up and running again thankfully

Not been able to subsantiate it but the Lumia phone has wireless/induction charging and the induction fields or static from that must have freaked to touchpad.
Anybody else aware that this can happen?

Re: laptop

There's also a "lock" on the touchpad that sometimes gets accidently activated, what type of laptop ?

Does it have a separate "nipple" mouse in the keyboard or do you literally have to connect an external mouse ?

If the "nipple" works then the touchpad is locked...

Simply double clicking on the pad sometimes unlocks it...

Re: laptop

The fact that the touchpad works until the user has logged in, makes me think it is simply disabled for that user in the touchpad settings (suggestion 1 in earlier post).
