pop ups

Ever since reporting a nasty porno spam thing I've been getting pop-ups. Done a virus scan and an adaware thingy but they are still coming and I've got firewall and pop-up blocker on. HELP!

Re: pop ups

No, I didn't click anything except the report button and I've checked my pop-up blocker again which says it is on so I just don't understand this.

Two simple bits of advice panther:-

1/ stop clicking on porn.
2/ Next time ask Mick he's always willing to help.

By the way willow was it the spam with the piccys? 'cos I also reported that one but didn't get any pop ups.

Re: pop ups

Yes Less that was the one. I ran that AVG spyware thingy and it found some more that my others hadn't found and I thought that had cracked it but just got another flippin thing popping up!

I've only been on the same forums I always go on and not clicked anything unusual.

Re: pop ups

Well, I thought the problem was solved but now my computer is totally dead. It just won't turn on. It gets as far as the "Intel Pentium Processor" symbol and just stops there. I do hope it doesn't mean I have lost everything. I'm using Busman's at the moment to post this.

Re: pop ups

That sounds a bit more serious but not totally unhappy.

Do you have that linux live CD I gave you ages ago? Try booting from that to check if your pc itself is OK. I reckon its likley that you have a virus that has mucked up your bootsector so the PC is unable to boot.

It doesn't mean you have lost all the data on teh disk, please don't just go trying to reinstall windows as it has a habit of formatting teh disk without asking. THIS WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.
