yep, As far as I know there is no way to do a remote firmware upgrade with them. (Unlike Oranges 'Livebox')

Just because it came with my broadband package doesn't mean I'm using it. In fact currently its at "Harwood Red Towers"
I have a nice little Linksysy WRT54 which of course uses Linux for its firmware and can even be flashed to a completely open source alternative firmware enabling enterprise standard routing and extras like Samba clients and the like. |

Does it have a USB printer port that they use for a hard drive with the linux firmware?
What do you use as a modem, or do they do a WRT54 with an ADSL modem built in?

it has an inbuilt modem. As for USB, nope they can use samba to mount Network storage, the linux firmware runs from EPROM.

Its a shame it does not have a USB port. I have seen routers that have a USB port to connect to a PC as well as ethernet ports. In fact those little BT ones do.

some have built in Print servers so you can connect USB printers directly to them for sharing across the network
