Well I've finally got the Epson to be recognised and working.The info was out there.I can't help thinking that Microsoft think their target buyers are more computer savvy than most are(including me).
We shouldn't have to be a super tech to enjoy a new purchase;or am I getting too long in the tooth?
Meanwhile I will no doubt continue to find other problems until that golden day when a service pack is released.

it comes down to what I have been saying for ages. PCs and teh stuff you run on them are highly technical devices. People have been IMHO wrongly led to believe that anyone can and should be able to use them fully. They let you loose from teh shop with a tool that can cost you hours of time, empty bank accounts and lose you precious pictures/memories.

You shouldn't have to be 'super techie' but you should have a decent level of understanding to use them just like driving.

I fully agree and I go back as far as the mighty Sinclair ZX spectrum!

Only the early ones had rubber keyboards. IIRC they moved to plastic keyboards about the same time they dropped the 16K version.

It did continue the Sinclair trend though, remember teh ZX81 was also perfectly shaped for use as a doorstop.

The First one I got was the 48k with the rubber keys.

Manic Miner & Jet set Willy.

Oh and my dad spending days programing something in copying from a book and when he ran it didnt work.

just found out that upgrading your computer to vista causes to many problems.
Many of the problems seemed to stem from the fact that PCs support a whole myriad of third party hardware devices. And each one of these devices, whether it's a webcam or a sound card, requires a crucial piece of software called a driver to tell the computer - and in this case, Windows Vista - how it works and behaves.
The problem is that many of the drivers you already have installed simply may not be compatible with Vista. so im not getting it, better off buying a completely new pc with vista on it!!

Ohhhhh the memories, i think me dad still has the compact 48k rubber keys, those were my favourite games as well as paper boy

takes forever to load with the screeching tapes hehehehe
