Alternative Virus Software
HI, can anyone recommend a good virus scanner / firewall program as an alternative to Norton, I really like the features it contains but it is just slowing my computer down too much!! Thanks

Re: Alternative Virus Software
I prefer nod32 to AVG, takes up very little memory and deals with viruses effectivly, which from personal experience AVG has failed to do sometimes.

Re: Alternative Virus Software
I like AVG as a freeby.
Sygate is good aswell
But if you wanna a buy i would recomend Mcafee.
It has everything you need.

I used to use McAfee all the time, righgt up until the version that was full of bugs ,it deleted your emails from Outlook Express and screwed up several other things. I did not believe that an antivirus program would stop the windows game hearts ( I think but it might have been solitare) from working correctly. I think it was version 6 or 7. They had a big list of bugs on the McAfee web site at the time. Then I moved onto Norton until I found it was slowing all the machines down I installed it on. I now likw Nod32. Works well without adversely affecting anything.

Re: Alternative Virus Software
Yeh i found Mcafee to be a bit strange sometimes aswell!
Ive switched off my spamkiller as it was changing the settings for my pop account everytime i switched my computer on in the morning....
I dont rate Norton at all apart from slowing the computer down, its a nightmare to remove the dam thing off your comp....

Re: Alternative Virus Software
i use kapersky anti-virus and kerio firewall, prefer it to norton,
also every so often i run a program called hitman pro. i was told about this and i like it.
it download the programs need for you and updates them for you , and configures the programs for you , and runs the scans , it uses about 4 spybot programs.
any one else use this ?
