Having Sky Issues 08/01/07?

Just been onto Sky, basically they released a new version of software last night that has broken a lot of boxes.

If you are struggling to get a signal then you need to reset the settings for the default transponders in teh Installer menu (Services, 401 select). go into the default transponder settings and press teh red button. Then save and exit.

It should work from there

Just you just love it when Sky decide to change the software in YOUR sky box. How can this be legal? They don't ask first and they don't give you a way to go back.

now whats theirs and whats yours, the contents of the HD are technically theirs as they keep copyright so as the box boots from it its 'their' software.

Re: Having Sky Issues 08/01/07?

My box belongs to me. Just like my PC belongs to me. Would you accept someone changing the operating system on your PC without asking you? I know you don't do Microsoft but the copyright to Windows is Microsofts, that does not mean they can change it when they like. At least you can turn off the updates or not connect it to the net. Sky has you by the short and curlys. If you don't connect up the LNB you don't get no pictures, if you do they change your box without asking.

At least they can't change my box and it still works perfectly without needing Sky to play with it. No wonder Sky wanted to shut down Dream Multimedia a few years ago. They allegedly put pressure on IBM not to supply the PowerPC CPU's they use it the STB's and tried to get Dream to remove the ethernet port on the STB's so people would not be able to card share with Sky's so called un hackable NDS encryption system. I wonder if they tried to buy out the creators of Gbox or cccam to stop the card sharing.
