Online document storage?

Firstly I don't know if I'm posting this in the right section, so please feel free to move if need be!

What I'm looking for is like a Photobucket type thing but for documents.

My pc is going back to PC World at the weekend because the disk drive thingywhatsit is broke and I can't put my photos on it.

So I really want to store my documents in somewhere like a Photobucket type place, if anyone knows of one please?

Is has to be free though, because I don't have a lot of stuff on pc but I don't want what I have got being nosied at!

TIA

Re: Online document storage?

zip them up with a password and encryption then its just one file to worry about

then if its not too big, email it to a friend who can store it for you till you want them back. This is obviously free

If its large or there are lots then consider things like 110mb.com(also free but more risk as its an online storage ), just shove the file up there and put a simple homepage up to keep the hosting company happy.

Ah that's what a thingywhatsit is!

The email to a friend suggestion just gave me an idea - why not email it to yourself? Then you can open it when you get your PC back and put it back on again?

Re: Online document storage?

If your USB ports are still working you could store your files on a flashdrive

Re: Online document storage?

I think teh whole issue is about offline storage.

re Willows, Depends if you use webmail/IMAP or POP and a real email client, the former would work, teh latter wouldn't if teh PC then went south, house blew up etc.

Have you got more than 2 gig of what you want to save??

I have a flash drive thats 2 gig, I can give it to Jemma tonight

To find out how much space you need, right click the folders and click properties

Re: Online document storage?

That would be great, thanks Michelle. Would be even better if I knew what to do with it!

Well I was hoping to put all my piccies on and all my documents on. I'm just a bit funny about my pc going anywhere cause I have all Hols piccies on and they would probably just piddle themselves laughing at the ones there are of me on there, not that there are many, thank goodness.

Re: Online document storage?

If you have too much to fit on that flash drive you could:
a) buy/borrow another one
b) transfer stuff onto it then onto friends PC, then empty it and repeat the process
