Re: top up tv

why not get virgin media or sky installed and pay £7/£9 a month for their basic package and get plenty more channels into the bargain than top up their wallets - sorry tv...
so you would save that £99 and spend it on something you want to and save a couple of quid a month into the bargain...

I was well interested in the new BBC computer thingy enabling you to watch stuff on the pc. We do get English stuff but we can only tape the channel which we are watching.

Thinking that I might be able to see an episode of Eastenders I logged on..........not available unless you are living in the UK!

Re: top up tv

cheers for the advice: having a re-think: its mainly a digital recorder I want : so thought the £99.00 looked ok: I don't want a contract with Sky or anything I am with BT and have to wait another year then I can get rid of them: so may go with sky then:
( I can't have cable we don't have it on our close)

That's because you can only pay your TV license if you live in the UK.

Cough*

All you need is a proxy in the UK that makes it look like your request is coming from a UK based IP address. Not hard to find if you look around.

Well said entwisi, I've heard of this as well, and for a certain recompense I just happen to have a u.k. email address that could be made available!

P.S. Hope your cough gets better soon.

Hang on a minute Ian. You are the first to moan at people about copyright infringement when we talk about copied software etc.
Now you are helping someone to breach the BBC's copyright.

Re: top up tv

All depends if she pays a UK TV license at someones house for example. Or even just pays one anyway. I don't understand in this day and age why the BBC can't sell a TV license to people anywhere in the world to allow them access to iPlayer.

What a money spinner that would be.

Heh, I'm firmly in the I believe the license should be scrapped camp. I fail to see why the BBC need to be public funded. They should live or die by their own petard.

Because when the BBC buy programs they buy them based on where they will show them. The BBC sells programs to Spain as well as all over the world. The TV companies buying the BBC's programs would not be very impressed if anyone could just watch them on the BBC website.

A digital recorder won't get you any more channels than what you already have. To record from Sky needs a special recorder, otherwise you will end up recording the channel your watching, you can get twin Google Page Ranking recorders to work with freeview, which record to hard disk whilst you watch another channel.

The extra channels you mention are mostly crap any way.

It will if she does not have freeview at the moment.
