Untrusted connection.

Today I have tried to Google something and got the message that it is an untrusted connection.
I am currently using Firefox as my preferred browser

I also cannot access my Flickr account because I get the same message.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
Is there anything I can do to remedy these issues.
I know we have some very computer savvy members on here and I would very much value their help and advice...but please make the advice simple.......thank you in advance

Re: Untrusted connection.

Thank you...yes I can get on that and tried it earlier(I know I should have said).
I am baffled by the instructions(you have to remember I am female)........I think I will probably have another go later and use my Ipad to get the information I was looking for on google.

With all the current issues around security I was temporarily freaked.......and I don't perform well in this mode(have pity on me).
I will try to work it out, but I just wanted to know if anyone else was having the same problem....you know that misery loves company .
thank you for your helpful advice...it is much appreciated.

Re: Untrusted connection.

When you try it again, if you click on Technical Details it might give a clue as to what the problem is.
Is your Firefox up to date, there was an update a couple of days ago to 42.0

Re: Untrusted connection.

My settings are checked to ensure that Firefox updates automatically.
The technical details I have checked and are noted below.

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to Google, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

Google uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates.
An additional root certificate may need to be imported.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

I have done the troubleshooting bit...and followed the instructions for the error code as noted, but despite this I still get the same infuriating message.(I went in and deleted file cert8 db as instructed.)

I will go away for a while I think and let my brain fog clear and come back to the problem when refreshed by a soothing cup of tea.

I`m on 42.0, updating might not cure the problem but worth a try.

Do you have malware, spyware and virus scanners installed?

Re: Untrusted connection.

Yes I have all those security features.......and I have just done an extra scan...nothing came up.
I have done a system restore too......this meant that firefox would not start (for some reason) so I have just updated to 42.0.
Haven't tried to access google yet(I feel like it will not have cured anything......and it will irritate the bejasus out of me).

Thank you for your help.
I really do hate it when things don't work...even if I don't want to use them that often
