Why do you not use linux?

Hello, i've come here to gather some, hmm, research. I'm asking here because I assume that the average Accyweb user is tech savvy enough to use the internet, but not a technical god (unless you're entwisle).

Linux is a general term for the free linux operating system (much like Windows is an operating system). It allows you the user to make use of your computer system by talking to it.
A linux distribution is the Linux operating system with a collection of software etc.

(These may not be the exact definitions but this is how i interpret them and i doubt they're far off)

In my opinion one of the best distributions is Ubuntu. (http://www.ubuntu.com/)
It's completly free and every single piece of software on it is entirely free as well. They even send you cd's FOR FREE! I do everything that I did on windows, in Ubuntu, and i've not needed Windows for a few months now, I don't see any reason to ever go back.

My question is, why do you not use Ubuntu/Linux on your PC?

For example; are you scared that it might be difficult to install/break your computer, or can you just not be bothered to install it? Or are you happy with Windows because it proberbly came with your pc?

I think more people would use it if it came pre-installed on a pc
i have a pc with Linux on but dont use it on the net yet .
as for installing it there was no problem and it worked first time with no glich's
At the moment i have
1 pc with windows home xp on (laptop)
1 pc with windows pro xp on (wifes)
1 pc with windows 98se on (used for wireless network as a access point)
1 pc with Linux on for mucking about with.
1 pc with windows xp pro for sale (already sold)
1 hp server with nothing on at the min
2 pc in bits all over the bedroom floor
1 wife going mad (wants it all clearing up for some reason

)

When I first came over to PC from Atari it was mainly so i could install the same software on home computer as they have at school. same versions of same software so they could work at home exactly same as at school.

I am now used to windows and like it... It works.

IE will allways have the master share of the market just like windows will because they come installed... simple as that.. no other OS will make a mark until the monopoly is broken.. thats a fact.

I don't have a mac because the hardware is too expensive for the same performance..
I dont use windows because it's insecure and it costs a lot of money. It also does things I don't want, like scanning my pc telling microsoft what software I am using.

I use both, but I have pretty much switched all day to day stuff like web browsing, email, IM, IRC and usenet to Gentoo and keep the Windows box around for the odd game and whatnot.
