I rang Dell about 8 some months ago and they inserted one for me, they just beat accyman to it as he was going to do it for me , using the button helps you to bypass 8 and have had no problems since

Re: Windows XP The Countdown Begins
Good job I didn't buy a new PC with Windows 8, here comes Windows Blue.
How come a company as big as this can't get it right first time? Or even second time?
Vista, Windows 8, if Blue is a mess-once is an accident, twice a coincidence, three times is sabotage.

Re: Windows XP The Countdown Begins
Have you any idea how many lines of code it takes to write an operating system? it's billions so you try suddenly rewriting huge swathes of it and ensuring it all plus together. also its not that it's unstable, just that the company took a decision to try and shift as users were looking to move to touch based. Like coke they made a mistake and are changing back. much that people know I don't like Microsoft sometimes you have to admit you screwed up and I respect that they are doing. I'll respect them more If all existing win 8 users get an upgrade to blue for free...

Having tried to write programmes on a Spectrum and never got one to work, I can't imagine how writing an OS or one of these modern games can be done.
That's not my point. No-one is saying it doesn't work, it's just that millions of users don't like it and find it hard work.
Don't they do any customer testing to get reactions?
Or is it 'Microsoft knows best. Learn to love it'?
Millions of us(most of us) don't have touch screens and probably don't want or need them. Were we all forgotten?
It's OK for you experts, some of us struggle to switch on.
