Wireless Networks

I've just heard, on the radio, that wireless computer networks emit as much radiation as mobile phone masts. How many of you are alarmed by this news and how many just don't care?
Makes you wonder how long they have known this and whether they have only released the information now millions of wireless networks are up and running.
Just found this on Times Online:

Health fears lead schools to dismantle wireless networks
Radiation levels blamed for illnesses
Teacher became too sick to work

Re: Wireless Networks

Anything that is wireless uses radio waves (unless it is infra red). That includes your cordless phone at home, bluetooth headsets that you stick into your ear next to your brain (certain members wont have that problem ) and even your remote for unlocking the car.
What about your baby listener that you put next to little cherub, that works on radio with the transmitter next to baby. The new digital ones like ours are probably on a similar frequency to wireless networks and I bet are a similar power output as well.

Next thing people will refuse to travel in a taxi unless the driver turns his radio off.

Re: Wireless Networks

I have been researching the web for info because I am undecided whether to go 'wireless'. I have found this-

http://www.hpa.org.uk/radiation/unde...s/emf/wifi.htm

I dont use a mobile phone which has a higher rate of radio transmission, but I do have a wireless telephone and 2 wireless doorbells. I need to add up the cumilative total effect.

When you are having an X-ray, the radiation is controlled....in any case you would not be X-rayed more times than was necessary. And X-Rays are for positive diagnostic benefits......a lot of the stuff we use that emits radiation is for convenience or pleasure.

Re: Wireless Networks

Hrmm so now we are all going to die from radio waves... riiight. I take it that means that mobiles are now only the second major cause of all deaths ever then ?

Technophobia is funny.

Re: Wireless Networks

What a load of tosh. Isn't there a health spa in India where people go because it makes them feel better, and it naturally has a higher amount of radiation.. people feel better because the body works to combat it.

Re: Wireless Networks

They have measured the radiation and yes the wireless network does emit more than the mobile phone mast - but there was no mention of having measured what effect it actually has on people.
