Almunia for England
reports in the press suggest, that Arsenal keeper Almunia is willing to give up his Spanish citizenship and take up British citizenship if newly appointed England manager Fabio Cappelo wants him as a keeper.
do you think he should be allowed to play for England

Re: Almunia for England
What is better: probably winning (or at least giving a better show) with non-English born players, or having a fully English squad that is more likely to fall short of success? Personally I'd support the latter.
Probably wouldn't happen anyway. There was speculation about this kind of thing with Carlo Cudicini a few years back when Seaman retired. Just paper talk really.

the thing with Carlo was "it was possible" where as Almunia has stated he is willing, something i cant recall Cudicini doing, and then shortly afterwards he got his cap, wich is probably what Almunia is doing
"come and get me or else!"

Re: Almunia for England
its not the same he wasnt born here but why not - if we can have foreign managers who dont take out british citizenship, who cant even speak english when they take the job at least he's willing to take out the british citizenship, what happens though if he dont pick him - does he then hawk himself round france, germany, america, africa offering his services?

Re: Almunia for England
I think our football team must be the only major sport where we don't allow foreigners to become English. We have done it in Rugby, Cricket & Tennis. If he takes English citizenship then he is perfectly entitled to be picked for England.
