Blackburn beaten, referee shines.

Today was a chance for the referee to grab all the headlines and he did just that by awarding southampton a penalty in the 90th minute for an unknown reason. He also denied blackburn a penalty which would have seen us get our first penalty in 46 games.

46 games this must be a record in the modern era, 46 games without a penalty which spans over 16 months unbelievable. I Think i shall send an email to the f-a.

New season, nothing changes BRFC fans whinging about penalties, surely you must have expected some stick when you made this post but for the record I didn't think either of the incidents were penalties.
What I want to know is why Ferguson wasn't sent off even though he was booked twice, I believe the ref said he booked Tugay but you and I know that is b******t as he was nowhere near the incident.

Re: Blackburn beaten, referee shines.

The ref had a terrible game and must be getting suspended or demoted to div1.

Didn't see the penalty incident but my Rovers mate talked about it for around 45 mins when I saw him today/yesterday.......obviously he wasn't happy. He talked about something called refereeing consistency.................

Watched the game live, it was our early game 7-30 in the morning but dont understand why it was a chance for the Ref to grab the headlines as this suggests that something was going to happen during the game that most people knew before hand and the commentator never mentioned anything, did someone threaten someone before the game or was it a grudge match from the last game? I dont think it was a penalty (either of them) but hey I did cheer, how the ref chicken out of sending Ferguson off is amazing and why didnt he book Souness in the first 10mins as he stood on the sidelines abusuing him for not stopping play when Ferguson went down, the guy was up and running like a rabbit 30secs later.

Re: Blackburn beaten, referee shines.

I spent over £50 in total on that game and all i got was a dodgy 90th minute penalty that made me grumpy for a 5 hour coach journey.

Andy D'Urso is and always will be a poor ref, remember a few seasons ago when he ran away from the Man Utd players after awarding a penalty at Old Trafford, the man has no balls and should be taken off the list for premiership games.
