Blackburn residents flee

Thousands of local people in the Darwin area have been seen fleeing from their homes in terror today.
They have been seen bundling into local churches, mosques and schools in the hope that they would offer some sort of safety from the ‘attack’.
It all started at about 4.30 this afternoon when the first invaders arrived early and took the locals by surprise. One onlooker said, "We were just not ready for it. We had no time to prepare or think. We just grabbed what we could, the misses and kids like, and fled. I have never been so scare in all of my life."
The scenes of terror gradually worsened till they reached a peak at about 7pm this evening.
Intelligence sources said that the locals were taken by surprise because an important match, the FA Cup game between Blackburn and Burnley, was actually being played at Ewood Park.
A spokesman for Darwin
Lord Mayor said, "The residents are just not used to it. Hundreds of them called the local police station out of complete fear because they just didn't know what was going on. At first they thought it might be friendly fire from US troops in the Gulf who had taken a wrong turning. They are not used to the noise produced by football fans who actually support their team."
A police spokeswoman issued a statement to residents in the Blackburn area pleading with them to stay calm and remain undercover till they issue the all clear. They warned that there could be even more noise when the final whistle goes as a packed Ewood Park has its first taste of real supporters since the visit of Bolton on 03/03/1959.

Wow Bazf spot on accuracy and you weren't even there! I can confirm from personal experience that Blackburn was "a bit busy like" yesterday with police numbering Burnely fans almost one to one! Getting in and out of the town was a bit of a challenge in some parts with a normally 10 minute journey taking upwards of an hour.

I've heard a little rumour that someone fixed signs on the motorway bridges where the route enters Hyndburn saying "Welcome To Stanleyland" just so that travelling fans know who the best team in East Lancashire really is!
