Re: Debt

Spookily I was just discussing with Mel about the article on West Ham on the BBC.

BBC Sport - Football - Hammers want £100,000-a-week star

110m in debt and they brag about offering a special player 100k a week.

It stinks and the sooner football implodes on itelf and the big clubs go to the wall the better it will be all round.

Re: Debt

This bit got me
Quote:
Red Football Joint Venture paid out £68.5 million in interest on their debts in 2009 but unlike the previous year, returned an overall profit of £6.4 million in 2009
Time they clamped down on this, but as long as their paying their debt off every week everyone seems happy

Re: Debt

It seems Fifa are changing the rules for season 2012/13 All clubs will only be able to spend the money they generate within their own club, looks like clubs such as City(overspent by £98 million, this year, biggest lose in football history) Chelski etc will be up the creek without paddle

Gordon Brown has now criticized football clubs for running up too much debt...

BBC Sport - Football - Prime Minister Gordon Brown warns football over debts

Quite right too. Just imagine if he ran the country like that, building up huge debts. Where would we be then, I ask you?

Re: Debt

Football clubs need to get a grip especially those at top end, money has seriously spoilt the great game (not quite at stanley the lack of money ironically improved the footy). Its gone silly money now and to me spoils it.

Ya but there's a big difference to whats happening today, Arabs and Yanks buying clubs instead of toy train sets, at least Jack Walker was a life long Rovers fan, and money isn't the only think that wins titles, ask Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds Spurs who've been throwing money at the prem for years any ain't won it

There ain't no difference.. and if start you start talking about life long supporters of clubs then let's talk those that play for the region they where born in.. I'll start with.. Wes Brown, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, no player born in Lanchashire plays for Rovers
Rover's and Burnley employ players that ain't born and breed.. time to get hold of the fact you lot import your players.. nuff said
