Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has named his side to face former club Barcelona and will be without the services of Damien Duff.
The Irish winger sustained a knee injury in The Blues' FA Cup defeat at Newcastle after a collision with Carlo Cudicini, and has failed to recover for the clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
The news is a major blow for Mourinho who was already without the inspirational Arjen Robben, and has left The Blues bereft of genuine width up front.
The West Londoners are also without Wayne Bridge who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a double ankle fracture.
However, there is better news of defender William Gallas and striker Didier Drogba who were also doubts for the game.
Gallas finished the match at St James' Park in clear discomfort with a groin injury, while Drogba has been struggling with a thigh complaint - both players have been given the green light to play.
Mourinho has taken the unusual step of naming his side well in advance of the game, and has revealed that Joe Cole will start in midfield.
Petr Cech is in goal for The Blues, while the defence comprises of Paulo Ferreira, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Gallas.
Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Tiago and Cole will start in midfield, and up front Drogba returns to partner Eidur Gudjohnsen.
Chelsea XI to face Barcelona: Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Carvalho, Gallas, Tiago, Makelele, Lampard, Cole, Drogba, Gudjohnsen.
