Re: end of the line

I hate penalty shoot outs for 2 reasons:-

1) We never win em

2) By the time it gets to penalties you know that the teams have worked bloody hard to get there and are knackered.

Well done to our lads though, they worked hard today..:engsmil:

Re: end of the line

Sick but proud we held on for over an hour with ten men. Rooney was wrong..Rush of blood and he lost his temper..I was shocked Gerrard and Lampard both missed but lifes unfair..In all honesty we just weren't good enough throughout the tournament and hopefully Mclaren can sort it out and we will be back in 4 years to give it our all again..Take Walcott and don't play him for a single second..Clever

Re: end of the line

The first 60 minutes was what I expected from England, it was above the norm for this tournament but nothing special.

The greatest disappointment was Rooney, the space he filled on the pitch was in my opinion wasted. If he managed to stay on his feet he only went on to fluff it up.

What followed however was worth every heart pounding minute, true to the British spirit ten good men went into the thick of it and held Portugal off, for that alone they deserved to win. We lost. **** happens but I’m proud to be British and I’m proud of those lads, let’s hope that we show them our appreciation if only for that last glorious hour.

Valiant effort by the lads and some dirty tricks by the Portuguese. They played with guts and determination but lacked that extra bit of flair. Oh well, hope the riot police are out in Germany and in every town in England.

Re: end of the line

I don't have to be politically correct living where I do and if this post gets deleted I don't really care as I will have had my say, even if it might be brief.

As soon as I saw that the referee and linesmen were Argentinian I knew we were doomed. Rooney sent off for mouthing off even though Ronaldo did the same a few minutes later, my boy Becks, was injured, no red card given for the player who kicked him.......for goodness sake!!

The worst of it was that having got a goal in the penalties it was denied...........flaming cheating b########

I will never, ever watch a world cup again.

Re: end of the line

Gutting way to go out.

Thought they played showing the most determination today than they have shown in the entire tournament, despite Becks and Rooney going off.

Well done though.

Perhaps we'll have a manager in four years time who doesn't take as part of the squad an untried supposed boy wonder, then never play him.

Take your millions Sven and your big Nancy and just leave, Closing the door as you p*ss off.

Re: end of the line

June. Are you suggesting that the Argentinean Referee was a bent cheating bastard and not an anglophile?

Get a couple of stiff drinks June and we’ll meet up again in four years time with an Englishman who knows what he’s doing in the driving seat, roll on 2010.
