England v Sweden
Comments here!
I thought it was a bit scrappy in places but also brilliant in places. England gave as good as they got - shame about the second Swedish goal but before the match started all everyone expected was a draw.
We've finished top of the table - good effort!

Re: England v Sweden
First half we played well, then we succombed to the usual 'allergy to the second half' syndrom. Joe Cole was definately man of the match for me, the lad worked his socks off. Can't complain really, we've finished top of our group but the lads will have to raise their game in the knockout stages. Fingers crossed that Michael Owen's injury isn't as bad as it looked but the lad looked in agony

Re: England v Sweden
Once we lost Ferdinand the defending of set-pieces went to pot. Campbell is well & truly past it.
On a lighter note - Rooney looked **** hot; Cole equally as brilliant.
Bring on Ecuador.

Re: England v Sweden
very disapointed, 2 class goals, owen who wasn't match fit from going to germany, sweden who are not going to win it! created by far the best chances, rooney did ok first half hopefully will be better for this outing, didn't defend set pieces at all. any more injuries and we will not have a strike force, thank god we are playing ecuador. to me our whole problem is sven DID NOT take enough strikers. just hope joe cole is ok also rio. quite possibly seen the last of owen did not look good. the saving grace is we are through to the next phase.

Re: England v Sweden
The first half was really exciting but Sweden's early goal in the second half seemed to make England lose heart for a while. I must say that Joe Cole's goal was quite spectacular.
I'm just a little stunned that England's Swedish manager took off the number one striker and the number one defender half way through the second half. He didn't even seem to cheer for Gerrard's goal. He just looked a little glum behind the rest of those on the bench, who were cheering their heads off.
I'd love to see the headlines in the Sun tomorrow.........SVEN CHEERS FOR SWEDEN!!

Re: England v Sweden
Great to finish top of our group.
Still worried if we look like a World Cup winning side...yet.
Bet this thread's moved soon! Hee hee.

To be fair, Rooney was looking tired and I think Sven was probably right to take him off at that time although I had to laugh at Wayne's reaction to his substitution, he looked like a little lad who had been brought infor his tea just when he was enjoying himself!

Re: England v Sweden
England could have played better but with the situation that they were in with losing both Ferdinand and Owen to injury and then Crouch and Lampard being on a yellow card, they played a fair game. In my opinion if I were Swen I would not have played Hargreaves but possibly Dowining or Carrick instead.
Joe Cole's goal has definately got to be the goal of the tournament, with Gerrard's against Trinidad coming a close second. It was a shame that Rooney wasn't at match fitness.

that was rooney to a tea lol its know known that owen is out and we only have crouch (who aint done bad) walcott(still at school) harry rednap says hes not up to it yet(he should know) and rooney who could either throw a tantrum, break down again, or have a blinder, not very inspiring is it? the 3 MAIN strikers we have left i just pray that its the rooney plays a blinder scenario otherwise HELP.

Re: England v Sweden
I don't see why everyone's so bothered about strikers - two goals last night from midfield.
England v Paraguay - goal from a Beckham free kick
England v Trinidad and Tobago - goals from Crouch and Gerrard
So out of five goals only one came from a 'striker' - I don't think it's the problem that everyone seems to think it is.
